Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Lcpl. Lawrence Philippon of the United States Marine Corps, who was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on March 20, 1983 and passed away on May 08, 2005 in western Iraq at the age of 22. He is the son of Leesa and Raymond Philippon and the sibling of Bryan and Emilee. He attended Conard High School and graduated in 2001 and played Ice Hockey (goalie) and Lacrosse(defensemen).  He will be remembered as "Larry", "Goat", or just "Philippon" by all those who loved and knew him.  His favorite number for everything was "33".  His favorite movies are "The Big Labowski" and "Forrest Gump", which has come to be known as "Larry's Movie".  He went to Central Connecticut State University, but chose to go to the Marines shortly after.  He was the Guidon Bearer for the USMC Color Guard in DC and was a part of Former President, Ronald Reagan's Funeral Procession.  We will remember him forever as a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, great friend, and a good Marine.  Semper Fidelis

Quotes for Larry
Here are some quotes that seemingly represent Larry's life and the life of all of those who have gone before us.

"Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage."
                    -Jean Anouilh

"
As we look deeply within, we understand our perfect balance. There is no fear of the cycle of birth, life and death. For when you stand in the present moment, you are timeless.

                   - Rodney Yee

" I think a hero is someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom."
                    - Bob Dylan.

"Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway."
                    -John Wayne

"The single best augury is to fight for one's country."
                    -Homer

"
I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floatin' around accidental-like on a breeze. But I, I think maybe it's both."
                   - Forrest Gump

"
Well, sir, seems to me, God gave me a special gift, fashioned in me a fine instrument of warfare."
                  -Private Jackson, Saving Private Ryan

"
Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"
                 - Private Jackson, Saving Private Ryan

"Some had families waiting, for others their only family would be the men they bled beside, there were no bands, flags no honor guards to welcome them home, they went to war because their country ordered them to, but in the end they fought not for country or their flag, they fought for each other"
-Joseph Galloway (Narrating), We Were Soldiers

"American soldiers in battle don't fight for what some president says on T.V., they don't fight for mom, apple pie, the American flag... they fight for one another."
-Lt. Colonel Hal Moore, We Were Soldiers.

"Today you people are no longer maggots. Today you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood."
                  - Gunnery Sergeant Hartman

"A man who won't die for something is not fit to live."
                  - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Were a star quenched on high,
For ages would its light,
Still travelling downward from the sky,
Shine on our mortal sight.

"When a good man dies,
For years beyond his ken,
The light he leaves behind him shines
Along the path of men."
                   -Alexander Russell Main

"
But the man who dares to live his life with death before his eyes, the man who receives life back bit by bit and lives as though it did not belong to him by right but has been bestowed on him as a gift, the man who has such freedom and peace of mind that he has overcome death in his thoughts--such a man believes in eternal life because it is already his, it is a present experience, and he already benefits from its peace and joy. He cannot describe this experience in words. He may not be able to conform his view with the traditional picture of it. But one thing he knows for certain: Something within us does not pass away, something goes on living and working wherever the kingdom of the spirit is present. It is already working and living within us, because in our hearts we have been able to reach life by overcoming death."
                   -Albert Schweitzer

"A brother is a friend given by Nature."
                   - Jean Baptiste Legouve

"The fearless are merely fearless. People who act in spite of their fear are truly brave."

                    - James A. LaFond-Lewis

"Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once."
                    - William Shakespeare

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. "
                    - John F. Kennedy

"
And, when he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of Heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun. {Romeo and Juliet}"
                    - William Shakespeare

"
This memory brightens o'er the past; as when the sun, concealed; behind some cloud that near us hangs; shines on a distant field."
                     - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"But life is sweet, though all that makes it sweet. Lessen like sound of friends departing feet; And death is beautiful as feet of friend. Coming with welcome at our journey's end."
                     - James Russell Lowell

"To see a world in a grain of sand And a heaven in a wild flower Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour."
                     - Sir William Blake
